GÉRALDINE GUARDIA

Director of Cultural Projects & Strategic Partnerships

​Géraldine Guardia is a Chilean-French filmmaker, screenwriter, producer and cultural manager whose work bridges film, art, storytelling and cultural collaboration.

She studied Communication in Paris and Audiovisual Communication at the University of Valencia, pursued video production studies in Brighton, and earned a Master’s degree in Arts and Politics from NYU Tisch School of the Arts.

Her career spans international film production, festivals and cultural programming. In Chile, she worked with the International Documentary Film Festival FIDOCS, Antofadocs, and the Digital Film Festival of Viña del Mar. She also worked as a script supervisor on feature films including Raúl Ruiz’s Nucingen Haus and served on the board of the Short Film Association of Chile, where she helped promote Chilean short films internationally.

Géraldine directed the Short-Short Film Contest for Expo 2010 Shanghai, organized by Fundación Chile. Her short film Hidden Murmurs was selected for international festivals including the Moscow International Film Festival and IndieLisboa. Her Super 8mm film Black Waves received the Best Experimental Short Film Award at the Swiss International Feminile Short Film Festival. She was also awarded support from the Carolina Foundation, in collaboration with the Ibermedia Programme, for her feature-film project Piel de corteza (Bark Skin), with the screenplay subsequently selected for the Panama Film Lab.

Today, Géraldine brings this international experience to Unchained Mothering as Director of Cultural Projects & Strategic Partnerships, working closely with Founder and President Jessica de Vreeze to develop and bring to life the organization’s artistic, cultural and community initiatives.

She plays a central role in transforming creative vision into concrete projects, helping coordinate the people, partners and resources necessary to produce exhibitions, events, audiovisual productions and multidisciplinary initiatives. Her work encompasses cultural project development and production, exhibition and event coordination, artist and institutional relations, community engagement, strategic partnerships, sponsorship and fundraising development, audiovisual storytelling, and public-art and collaborative projects.

Géraldine plays a leading role in Unchained Mothering’s audiovisual storytelling, overseeing the development and production of the organization’s documentary and film projects.

​

Drawing on her experience in filmmaking, cultural production, public art and international project development, Géraldine also helps cultivate relationships with artists, cultural organizations, community partners, institutions, potential sponsors and supporters, and contributes to developing the partnerships and resources necessary to move projects from concept to realization.

​

As a key member of Unchained Mothering’s leadership and project-development structure, Géraldine contributes both strategically and operationally to the organization’s continued development and growth.
